Stovetop Extender Prevents Food From Falling Through the Cracks

MANUAL

TUCSON, Ariz., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Brett LeMarr's pet peeve is the gap often found between a range and countertop. As a man who does a lot of cooking for the family, the gap nagged at him. LeMarr says, "I was tired of the grease, crumbs and spills accumulating on the sides of my kitchen range, so I began thinking of a way to eliminate this gap."

This gap even created an annoyance at Brett's work. As a construction manager, LeMarr began to notice more and more how many kitchens allow extra space so that an appliance can slide easily into place. "You typically end up with some type of gap between your range and countertop. The Stovetop Extender solves the problem without having to build custom cabinets. Furthermore, the product is designed to compliment your range. My wife loves it because of the custom look it adds to our stovetop."

LeMarr created a simple magnetized strip of plastic that adheres to a range with a plastic extension that wraps over the countertop edge, creating a seamless connection between the appliance and countertop. The strip acts as a barrier, preventing debris from falling through the gap. Additionally, cleanup is simply a matter of wiping off the strip. LeMarr notes, "My 75 year-old mother loves it because she no longer has to worry about what is growing behind her range."

Stovetop Extender will be unveiled at booth S1471, in the South Building of the McCormick Place at the 2009 International Home + Housewares' Show, March 22-24, in Chicago, IL.
