PITTSBURGH, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A new type of food and dessert travel caddy invented by a resident of Fruita, Colo., was a huge hit when it was featured recently as a "Today's Special Value" on QVC.

Joy Clymer was "ecstatic" when she learned her "Party on the Go" was licensed by Xtraordinary Home Products (XHP). When she found out the product was going to be broadcast to 90 million homes on the nation's most popular shopping network, she was overwhelmed.

"I was just thrilled," she said when she saw it on QVC. "It's like a dream!"

Joy, who is self-employed, came up with her idea because she wanted a neat and simple way to transport deviled eggs to get-togethers. She had taken a dozen deviled eggs to a barbecue in a pie pan covered with plastic. By the time she arrived, they were a mess.

Joy knew there had to be a better way, but she couldn't find a proper container in the stores, so she decided to invent one. She went online and found Davison, a new product development firm that provides services to inventors, corporations and entrepreneurs. She submitted her idea and the design team went to work.

The Party on the Go was licensed by XHP, which was looking for new items to add to its line of functionally unique and innovative housewares. The company liked the idea but wanted the product to be more versatile. Davison and XHP collaborated and together refined and perfected the Party on the Go.

The final product includes a transparent locking lid with handle and a universal base, egg tray, cupcake/muffin tray, pie/cookie/cake tray and veggie/chips/dip tray, all of which stack neatly inside the unit. (Photos available upon request.)

XHP loves the "multiple functionality" of the product, and QVC is all about "wow" and one-of-a-kind innovations, said Scott Nicholson, President of XHP.

"This gives the consumer the versatility of easily transporting so many different products."

The Party on the Go also had a fantastic early showing at the 2009 International Housewares Show, where "everyone absolutely loved it," Nicholson said.

"Right now, it's one of the single most exciting products for the year, not just for us, but in the housewares industry."

Joy is thrilled by the great response to her product, which comes in a variety of colors and has even more benefits than her original idea.

"Overall, it's been a very worthwhile experience working with Davison, and I'm very happy with the end result."

Davison's services include research, industrial design, video, product samples, packaging, presentation and royalty management. The firm is also the home of Inventionland, "the world's most creative workplace."

Products designed by Davison have sold in stores such as Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Sears, K-Mart, JCPenney, Linens 'n Things and Cabela's. Learn more at www.davison.com.
